Football Players’ Association Locks ANFA Complex with Three Demands
Kathmandu — The Nepal Football Players Association has locked the office of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, putting forward three key demands related to the management and welfare of football players in Nepal.
According to a statement issued by the players’ association on Thursday, the protest was organized after repeated requests and discussions with ANFA failed to address long-standing concerns of players. The association stated that it had previously tried to resolve the issues through dialogue and peaceful means but decided to lock the office as a pressure tactic.
The protesting players have put forward three main demands. First, they have called for clarity and transparency in the operation of the Martyrs' Memorial A Division League, including fixing the dates of the league fixtures as earlier promised. The players’ body said the uncertainty regarding the schedule has affected players and clubs alike.
Second, the association has demanded details of the Players’ Welfare Fund, stating that around Rs 6.5 million collected from a single competition last year should be made public. The players have asked ANFA to clarify how the fund is being managed and utilized.
Third, the players have demanded that outstanding salaries, allowances, and prize money of footballers be paid, including payments that have reportedly remained pending since 2017, despite being approved in ANFA executive committee meetings.
The association warned that if the demands are not addressed promptly, it will continue its protest and hold ANFA responsible for any disruption in Nepal’s football activities.
